.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 620 AM CDT Thu Aug 7 2025
- Heat Advisories are in effect today and tomorrow.
- Low storm chances return Saturday night through Monday night
for northern Oklahoma.
&&
.NEAR TERM...
(Through Thursday)
Issued at 131 AM CDT Thu Aug 7 2025
A Heat Advisory is in effect today for much of the FA. The upper
ridge remains centered over New Mexico and drier air begins to advect
within the H850 to H750 layer as the LLTR expands into the FA. With
daytime heating, mechanical mixing will lower surface dewpoints a
bit compared to the past few days. As a result, maximum air temperatures
will be roughly 3 to 5 degrees hotter than yesterday. Unfortunately,
the decrease in dewpoint temperatures will not be dramatic enough
to temper heat index values significantly. Many locations will
see heat index values of 105 to 110 deg by mid-day and lasting
until the early evening.

.SHORT TERM...
(Thursday night through Saturday night)
Issued at 131 AM CDT Thu Aug 7 2025
We will remain dry and the heat intensifies on Friday. A Heat
Advisory has been issued for much of the FA from noon to 8PM
Friday given high temperatures rise to 108 deg (northwest OK) and
heat indices up to 110 deg. Overnight low temperatures will creep
upwards to near record warm lows for a few locations on both
Thursday and Friday nights. Breezy south/southwesterly winds
continue with 25 to 35 mph gusts expanding into central Oklahoma
on Friday.

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday through Wednesday)
Issued at 131 AM CDT Thu Aug 7 2025
A Heat Advisory appears possible on Saturday, as well, as heat
index values of 105 to 110 deg are forecast for much of the area.
Clouds may have more of an impact on Saturday, but will wait and
see.
The upper ridge weakens overhead and becomes established over the
desert southwest as a strong trough swings across the northern
plains. Rain chances have dwindled for Saturday night and only
includes far northwest Oklahoma. Slightly better chances return
to northern Oklahoma on Sunday and Monday nights. Temperatures
return to seasonable Monday through Wednesday.

knots at most sites. Low level wind shear is expected again
tonight at WWR out of the southwest at around 45 knots.
